Join the Society on Thursday, March 25th from 3-4:30pm (EST) for a webinar about using data to inform practice. GLSEN, the Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Education Network will present National and State level data on LGBTQ youth and lead a discussion on best practices in meeting the needs of this population in schools. Featured Presenter: Emily Greytak, Senior Research Associate, GLSEN Emily Greytak, Ph.D., is the Senior Research Associate at GLSEN (the Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Education Network). GLSEN Research focuses on understanding the school experiences of all students, specifically as they are related to issues regarding sexual orientation and gender identity/expression, the school experiences of LGBT parents, perceptions of educators and school administrators regarding school climate and the utility of school - and community-based efforts regarding bullying and harassment. Emily's specific areas of interest include evaluation of training programs, the readiness of school personnel to foster safe school environments and the experiences of transgender youth. Emily has a Ph.D. and an M.S.Ed. in Education Policy from the University of Pennsylvania. Prior to working at GLSEN, she has conducted research for a variety of non-profit and educational institutions, such as the Anti-Defamation League, the National Sexual Violence Resource Center and the School District of Philadelphia. Emily first became involved with GLSEN as a volunteer Chapter Member in Philadelphia 12 years ago and has been part of GLSEN’s staff since 2006.
